Harvest festivals usually make us think of the fall — except when it comes to the First Flush Festival. Held on the bucolic Charleston Tea Plantation out on rural Wadmalaw Island, the festival marks the beginning of the year’s tea harvest. “First flush” refers to the first growth of new leaves on the tea plants, which create a uniquely fresh-tasting tea that’s available just once a year. The festival offers a lot more than just tea, though. Guests can munch on food from local food trucks, enjoy fun kids’ activities, and listen to live music all day. Old Crow Medicine Show is headlining, with support from Southwood, Tyler Boone, Stop Light Observations, and many more local acts.
