Voodoo has established itself as one of the best places to celebrate Mardi Gras in the Lowcountry, with parties every year that do their best to channel N’awlins. Last year’s event lasted five days, but they’re scaling back this year, what with the Kulick’s (the owners) new baby and their plans to open the Tattooed Moose in a few weeks taking up their time. Don’t expect any less of a party, though. Quentin Baxter and Charlton Singleton have put together a New Orleans/zydeco-inspired band called Cool ‘licks Gumbo (a play on the Kulick’s name). Guests can also expect hurricanes, gator, etoufee, and lots and lots of beads (flashing not required). —Erica Jackson
