Springtime in Charleston sees plenty of events that draw national-level celebs to the city — Food + Wine Festival, Fashion Week, Spoleto. For sports fans, there’s the Family Circle Cup, which brings over 100 of the world’s best female tennis players to compete at the Family Circle Tennis Center on Daniel Island. We’re talking Serena Williams, currently the number one player in the world, her sis Venus (number 6), Elena Dementieva (number 4), and Vera Zvonareva (number 5). From there, you can see players ranked from number 9-133 — still not too shabby. The week of play kicks off with qualifying rounds on Saturday and Sunday, April 11 and 12 — tickets are only $10 those days. From there, prices range from $20-$55, depending on your section and who’s playing. We hear that Tuesday, April 14 is one of the best days to go, as the top eight seeds will be competing. Also, don’t forget to check out the Lacoste Fashion Show on Monday, April 13 at 6 p.m. — always a fun kick-off to a week of women’s tennis. A portion of King Street will be closed down and models will walk the runway sporting fresh spring styles. —Erica Jackson
