Freddie Prinze Jr., Reese Witherspoon, Alexander Skarsgård, and Isla Fisher don’t seem like they’d have a lot in common with the Preservation Society of Charleston’s Fall House Tours. And they don’t really, other than their age — they all turn 37 this year. That’s some pretty good company the tour keeps, but the PSC isn’t resting on its previous success. You know those exit surveys people ask you to fill out? Looks like people do read them — or at least the Preservation Society did, using that information to revamp the tours into what patrons wanted, which was more in-depth information about the buildings from their structure to their architecture to their story. Hence why the themes this year are based around architecture. “In the past when people have called and asked what tour they should take, they all revolved around streets,” says Katherine Ferguson, marketing and communications manager at PSC. “Now, we can ask them about their interests and help them pick one out based on those interests.” Two tours will travel off the peninsula to Edisto Island and the plantation homes along the East Cooper River.
