Barely off the College of Charleston campus is Caviar and Bananas, which uses its Facebook and Twitter pages to publish information about daily food specials. Every weekend the restaurant offers its special brunch menu that runs 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday. For brunch, C&B offers its special dish “caviar and bananas,” which is bruleed banana, sweet tapioca, local honey, and brown sugar marscapone. Their happy hour runs from 4-7 p.m. with house champagne, liquor, and wine costing $3; domestic beer is $2.50. Pearlz is offering a dozen Gulf oysters for $7.95 and fish tacos for $4.95. Tucked in between Meeting and East Bay is Tristan on Linguard Street, which updates customers about their menu by using Twitter. “We are big fans of Twitter and we post about two times a day,” says Steve Harris, general manager at Tristan. “We post pictures of our chefs’ creations and feature dishes.” Today they are featuring a special six-course tasting menu. The menu includes seared diver scallops, quail carbonara, veal, and chocolate pot de crème. The six-course meal costs $75 per person and can be paired with wine for an additional $35.
