Drink Up/Dine Out for the Gulf Coast, a month-long fundraising event to help fishermen affected by the oil spill, kicks off this week with the Drink-Up Kick-Off Happy Hour at Blind Tiger Pub on Thursday night.
From July 1-8, Closed for Business, Monza, Poe’s Tavern, and Taco Boy (at both locations) will donate all profits from the sales of Abita products.
Throughout the entire month, Social and Poogan’s Porch will encourage diners to donate a dollar and will match those funds. On July 15, Torch will contribute all profits from Van Gogh Vodka drinks, and on July 24, the Pour House will donate a portion of profits from the deck bar. Other locations planning to participate in later events include Manny’s Grills, Madra Rua, The Mill, Moe’s Crosstown and Downtown Taverns, The Tattooed Moose, Vickery’s Bar & Grill, and Voodoo Tiki Bar & Lounge.
Stay tuned for details on those events, or visit drinkupforthegulfcoast.blogspot.com Funds raised will go straight to the Greater New Orleans’ Foundation’s Oil Spill Fund, which benefits Gulf Coast fishermen who have been hurt by the spill. Organizers are still looking for more restaurants and bars to participate. For more information, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
