Don't be ashamed: Be a tourist

Sandals with socks — check

The holidays are over, the weather's finally chilly, and you might be wondering what to do with yourself until the springtime. Enter Be a Tourist in your own Town. Presented by the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, this pass gives local residents a chance to enjoy the sights and taste the flavors that make Charleston a popular tourist destination in the Southeast before tourist season starts up again. It's our time to take to the streets and take back what's ours — at drastically reduced prices.
The price of $20 for an individual pass and $50 for a family pass grants you admission to 24 tourist attractions as well as discounts at 33 restaurants. You don't even really have to be related to the people on your family pass. You just have to like them enough to eat and hang out with them. So, choose your "family members" wisely.
With 57 places to visit in 31 days, you're sure to get your money's worth. Some of the participating restaurants to take advantage of are 82 Queen, The Library at Vendue Inn, and Bocci's Italian Restaurant. Re-live your days of elementary school field trips and visit attractions like Charles Towne Landing, Cypress Gardens, Fort Sumter, Carolina Ice Palace, and the Charleston Tea Plantation.
Before you know it, January will be over and the out-of-towners will start making their way back into Charleston. Tickets are limited, so get yours now.
