Do it for Donuts

Donut Run benefits SideWalk Chalk

When you’re getting ready for a foot race, you carbo load. When you finish a foot race, you carbo load again to recharge. Why not just carbo load in the middle? With some Krispy Kreme doughnuts. Now that’s our kind of run.

The Off the Sidewalk Charity 5K Donut Run happens Sat. April 24 at 9 a.m. Here’s the deal: You start at the Windermere Center near Three Little Birds Cafe. You run down the Greenway to Krispy Kreme. You scarf down a dozen (yes, a full dozen) of those heavenly rings. Then run back to your beginning. As delicious sounding as this concept sounds, if the idea of running on a full stomach of fried dough gives you visions of vomiting, bring some friends. Teams can have up to 12 members splitting the dozen among themselves.

The $18 entry fee benefits SideWalk Chalk, a nonprofit organization connecting creative members of the community with under-resourced schools to encourage creativity. Registration ends April 17. Visit the run’s website for more info.
