As kids, we always wanted a Super Soaker, but instead all we got were the cheap dollar store water guns that leaked more water than they squirted. On Sunday, we get our chance for revenge at Deluge. The wet ‘n’ wild concert is being held at The Joe and will spray over 300,000 gallons of water on show-goers. And, of course, everyone is encouraged to come armed with water guns for an epic water battle. Now in its second year, the water fest has grown from a small flash mob-type fight in Cannon Park to a stadium-size event. “We had the pop-up event last year to start building a brand with the full intent of moving toward this concert form,” says Rebecca Gosnell, event organizer. “It’s going to be like any other concert at the RiverDogs’ stadium but with the added element of water.” The music lineup includes bands the Dead 27s, South Street, and Royal Tinfoil, and the headliner is The Voice’s Kat Robichaud, who will perform songs from her new album at the concert. A portion of the concert’s proceeds will go to Windwood Farm and Family Services, a residential home that helps young male victims of abuse and neglect. Anyone who makes a donation to Windwood Farm will receive free water balloons.
