WINE PARTY | Now that's Italian

Viva Italia! March Schmooze
Wed. March 14
6-8 p.m.
Historic Rice Mill Building
17 Lockwood Dr.

It's Wednesday again, isn't it? Chef Fred Neuville and his buds over at Good Food Catering are throwing another party. This March the theme is Viva Italia! and there's Paolo's Gelato Italiano treats to spoon-feed yourself this time around. Not to mention the homemade, fresh bruschetta, Italian-inspired hors d'oeuvres, and penne carbonara. Once that food is stored in a belly, the assortment of libations and free cigars will occupy the hands of those who show up tonight. WEDNESDAY

EVENT | More than finger sandwiches

Tea Room and Gift Shop
March 19-31
11 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Entrees $4-$7
Old St. Andrew's Parish Church
2604 Ashley River Road

In the late 1940s a group of women who kept the Old St. Andrew's Episcopal Church tidy started sitting on the church's front lawn to enjoy lunch together. It wasn't long before tourists started showing up in West Ashley, hungry and eager to see this church the women kept clean. The women started selling refreshments and sandwiches to the visitors to raise funds for their church's renovation, and the oldest consecutively running Tea Room is still in business. Starting March 19, some good, ol' fashioned granny-style Lowcountry fare will be served by waitresses dressed in late 18th-century garb to the hundreds of people who show up daily during this two week event. A full gift shop with homemade crafts, local artwork, jams, jellies, etc., is available and tours of the historic church are available, Proceeds support mission and ministry in the world and at home. ALL WEEK
