Never heard of a muscadine? That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a glass of the grape variety and a steaming bucket of oysters when Irvin-House Vineyards hosts a Cork Shuckin’ oyster roast and the unveiling of a new, top-secret Irvin-House product to be revealed at the event on Feb. 4. If the suspense alone isn’t enough to get you there, bring your oyster knife and folding chair and enjoy live music from Kristi Starr and Gary Hewitt as well as barbecue from the pit masters at Farm on Fire. The Wadmalaw winery has produced five varieties of muscadine wine since opening in 2001 and you get to try them all. Pick your favorite and then move to Irvin-House’s hard stuff, choosing from 12 Firefly vodka and bourbon flavors to taste as well as Sea Island rums. Admission is free, but you’re going to need cash to taste this variety of local libations.
