CofC Piano Student to Perform at Kennedy Center

There is no shortage of talent coming in and out of our fair city. For example, take Dotan Nitzberg, who is studying at College of Charleston’s School of the Arts with Enrique Graf for his Artist Certificate in Piano. Born in Ashkelon, Israel, Nitzberg has formally studied piano for 12 years with the renowned Yanina Kudlik. During that time, he has become a laureate of several competitions: the Music Teachers National Association State Piano Competition in Spartanburg; “Lions” Organization all-Israeli Piano Competition; National Piano Competition in Ashdod; and three-time First Prize winner at a regional piano competition in Ashdod. He’s also a three-time recipient of the America-Israel Cultural Foundation Scholarship.

Just recently, Nitzberg was one of four musicians to receive the International Young Soloist Award from VSA — The International Organization on Arts and Disability. Not only does he receive $5000 for winning this award, but also he will perform on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage in Washington, D.C. You can see his performance tonight (June 8) at 6 p.m. online on the Kennedy Center website.
