In 2009, husband-and-wife team Michael and Ailyn Milligan began an operation to provide Charleston with free-range chicken. They utilize natural Thai farming techniques in the creation of their chicken feed and maintenance of their farm. This method produces a nutrient-dense product and cares for the land the birds are reared on. Chickens eat a complex feed of corn, soybean, oat, fish meal, kelp meal, oyster shell, and Brewer’s yeast. Fans of Chucktown can look forward to a selection of “real as possible” products from their new location in Jamestown — goat cheese, milk, and meat, as well as beef and honey.
