Children's Museum seeking artist in residence

Must Love Kids

The Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry is seeking applicants for the Anne Darby Parker Artist-in-Residence program. One artist will be selected to receive three months residency in a dedicated art room, a monthly stipend, a display at a Spoleto 2010 reception, and the opportunity to work with children and their families by hosting hands-on workshops and demonstrations. The program, named for CML founder Anne Darby Parker, will provide the opportunity for over 15,000 local children and their families to observe, interact, and learn from a professional artist.

If you’re an artist and you’re interested in applying for the award, the CML wants you to know they’re serious about finding someone with just the right amount of inspiration. According to a press release, “The selected artist must inspire curiosity and understanding among diverse audiences and produce art, experiences, and knowledge that enhance artistic expression – building on CML’s short but impressive history of bringing the arts and children together.”

Applications are available online or via e-mail. The deadline is Oct. 23.
