Raleigh, N.C.-based quartet Chatham County Line returns to town this week for a show at the Pour House, but this time they arrive with a specific objective: Their goal is to deliver an unparalleled live performance so that concert attendees won’t have any other choice but to go buy their new live CD/DVD combo, Sight and Sound, when it comes out on Yep Roc June 26. “With every record you release, you want it to blow things up for you and the band, but we already have a pretty hardcore following,” explains banjoist Chandler Holt. “Our fans have really wanted us to release something that sounds like we do on stage, because our studio records don’t really portray how we sound live. This album is for them.” Recorded last summer at Raleigh’s Fletcher Opera Theater, Chatham County Line’s new release will serve as a “best of” album and contains 20 live songs from all five of their previous records. Holt, singer/guitarist Dave Wilson, bassist Greg Readling, and fiddler/mandolinist John Teer will be touring all over the country and into parts of Canada this summer and fall to promote it. Even though they have the Sight and Sound album release to look forward to, Chatham County Line isn’t settling and has plans to release another album with all new material in 2013. “We may even play some new songs when we come to the Pour House,” Holt says. “It’s the only place we play in Charleston — that is until the coliseum calls us. But we love that place. They’re good folks over there.”
