Loosely adapted from novel to the screen by Alfred Hitchcock in 1935, The 39 Steps will now be performed by Charleston Stage.
In this adventure-filled manhunt across England and Scotland, a man is on the run after being falsely identified as a murdering spy. Along the chase, he encounters a cast of dastardly murders, double-crossing secret agents, devastatingly attractive women, and even finds himself in a foot chase atop a moving train.
The stage adaptation of this pursuit of the wrongfully accused has the four actors (Kyle W. Barnette, Beth Curley, Brian J. Porter, and George Younts) creating 130 roles. The high-octane performance employs some clever stage devices.
Directing the Patrick Barlow adaptation is Marybeth Clark. Tickets are on sale now.
