It’s a home run for charity — and hopefully for the RiverDogs, too. From wounded veterans and shelter dogs to literacy to healthy lifestyles, the RiverDogs will help raise money for a variety of local charities. On Fri. Aug. 9, the RiverDogs encourage fans to wear Red shirts to the game and receive a dollar off ticket price then donate that dollar to Carolina Canines. Carolina Canines focuses on providing injured and wounded veterans with rescued shelter dogs. On Sat. Aug. 10, game goers will have an opportunity to donate blood. The RiverDogs are set to celebrate reading with their partner the Charleston County Libraries on Sun. Aug. 11. Finally, on Tues. Aug. 13 during the game (as they do every Tuesday) the RiverDogs will promote healthy lifestyle choices by featuring healthy menu items and lifestyle tips throughout the game as part of the Lighten Up Charleston Initiative.
