Though the RiverDogs technically opened this year’s season last week in Greenville, this weekend is the first time they’ll play on their home field at The Joe. That means that there’s a whole slew of fun events going on at all four games, from fireworks and giveaways to the chance to play catch on the ballfield. Though the post-game fireworks are happening Thursday and Friday, Sunday might be even more exciting, according to the RiverDogs’ Derek Diesner. “Sunday is Kids’ Opening Day. They get to play catch on the field, and get autographs from the team after the game. And if they sign up for our Kids’ Club they get in for free every Sunday,” he says. “Also, the first 1,000 kids 12 and under will get a free T-shirt.” Sunday is also one of the RiverDogs’ five Dog Days, meaning your pooch can watch the game from the stands too. Now that’s the real definition of family-friendly. This season is chock-full of promotions, from Daddy-Daughter Princess Day to Two for $20 Date Night, so check the RiverDogs’ schedule to find out what’s happening. And make sure you save room for a beershake.
