Once upon a time, our beloved RiverDogs had a different, a sunshinier name. Instead of being named for the rats that live down by the wharf, the minor league baseball team went by the Rainbows. “For years and years we heard how people were glad we changed the name from Rainbows to RiverDogs but about three or four years ago we brought back some Rainbows T-shirts and hats and they flew off the shelf,” says Noel Blaha, director of marketing and new media for the RiverDogs. But this Saturday, the RiverDogs are bringing back the old-school jerseys — just in time to celebrate the Charleston Pride Festival. And you can win one of the uniforms right off the back of the players to raise money for Charleston Pride. How does one win the auction? By placing the highest bid during the silent auction, which closes during the sixth inning and is located on tables behind home plate.
