Whether you call him the Dude, his Dudeness, or El Duderino, Jeff Bridges’ character from The Big Lebowski has become a cult icon. And the Charleston Music Hall, along with the Alley, is hosting a Lebowski Bash this Thursday in honor of the awesomeness of the Dude. With multiple Lebowski fests happening around the country, it took a few tries to settle on the name. The Music Hall’s Charles Carmody says they had two previous names before this one stuck — honoring the film is kind of a big deal these days. But this Bash kicks off a new series of events where the focal point of the evening isn’t just a movie but rather a “special event built around said movie,” adds Carmody. After the screening of The Big Lebowski, there will be further celebrations at the Alley complete with a costume contest, trivia, bowling, and of course, Caucasians — or White Russians for all you non-Lebowskians. Carmody hopes to host more of these events and future possiblites include a zombie-themed night with a flick and a zombie bar crawl, hosting a live band during a silent film, and screening a terrible low-budget B-movie while a live comedian riffs on the film.
