We stalked his steps at The Joe when he stopped in for the beefy Homewrecker. We knew when he was going to be at Bowen's Island Restaurant to film local oysters being shucked and sucked by the shovelful. And several CPers were on hand to witness the hours-long taping of the blistering Spicy Tuna Roll challenge at Bushido. You could say we were all over Adam Richman from the Travel Channel's Man v. Food series when he was in town filming an episode on Charleston back in May.
Now, we'll get to see how Charleston fares in Richman's hands when the show airs on the Travel Channel Wed. Aug. 19 at 10 p.m.
By the looks of the picture, he seems to have a gotten a serving of authentic Chucktown. From the episode description: "Adam travels to Charleston, SC, for a big serving of Southern charm and Lowcountry cuisine, including oysters served by the shovel, a fried chicken sandwich smothered in sausage gravy, and a spicy tuna sushi challenge." I'm pretty sure he got that fried chicken sandwich at Hominy Grill.
Can't wait to tune in and see it. Surely it can't be as horrid as Anthony Bourdain's treatment where he had lunch with "foodie" writers from the Sandlapper (!) who prayed before lunch at Jestine's (!!) and then drank champagne out of a jelly jar at an oyster roast with the Lee boys (!!!). I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that one.
