Charleston City Paper wins best website and profile 

South Carolina Press Awards handed out Saturday

The Charleston City Paper won several honors at Saturday's South Carolina Press Association Awards, including first place prizes for Best Website and Best Profile Feature Writing.

Among all weeklies, charlestoncitypaper.com won Best Website. The City Paper's online video contributors were also recognized, including Mike Ledford for coverage of the Lowcountry Local First Revival and Web Editor Joshua Curry for a video spotlighting a marionette performance at Spoleto Festival USA. City Paper's Spoleto preview also won second place honors for Best Special Edition.

Among large weeklies, News Editor Greg Hambrick won first place in Best Profile Feature Writing for his cover story "Queen Mary," about polarizing James Island Mayor Mary Clark. Arts and Scene Editor Erica Jackson won second place in Best News Feature Writing for her cover story "Unbound," about libraries adjusting to the digital age. Hambrick also won third place for Best Beat Reporting for his coverage of state and local politics.
