Chapuy Champagne Dinner

When: Fri., Oct. 14, 6 p.m. 2011
Price: $55

It all started with a serendipitous plane ride. Nico Romo, the Executive Chef of Fish Restaurant, found himself seated next to Elodie Chapuy on a flight to France. Chapuy is a third generation grower and owner of Chapuy Champagne, a storied champagne house located in Oger, Champagne-Ardenne, France. She’s also one of the few female growers in the industry. The two struck up a conversation and decided to team up for a special dinner in Charleston.

Elodie will be on hand for Romo’s four-course dinner which will pair briny local oysters on the half shell with Chapuy’s Brut Reserve NV Blanc de Blanc. A classic pairing. Other dishes in that second course include octopus carpaccio and spicy clam chowder. The entrée course will feature Cuvee Prestige Livree Noir 2003 with roasted potato-wrapped monkfish, truffle mushroom and leek ragout with lobster bisque jus. Sounds rich and delicious. Space is limited for this dinner, so make reservations now.
