After all the Christmas stuff that’s happened in the Lowcountry since the calendar struck December, it’s finally time for Charleston’s Jewish community to bask in the spotlight with Chanukah in the Square. If you’ve never been to someone’s bubbie’s house on the first of the eight crazy nights, the free ceremony in Marion Square is a good way to get a little bit of multiculturalism in your holiday season. Instead of reindeer, they’ll have camels, as well as food, dancing, and more. The Simon Harding Quartet, along with Aaron Levy, will be playing jazzy versions of “I Have a Little Dreidel,” “Oh Chanukah,” and, well, we can’t think of any other Chanukah songs off the top of our heads. The menorah candles will be lit by local Holocaust survivors.
