When Levelwing Agency co-founder Steve Parker, Jr., learned that a movie was coming out about Facebook, he jumped at the chance to get involved. After all, the New York- and Charleston-based company specializes in digital advertising and social media.
Levelwing hosted a movie premiere of The Social Network at Cinebarre on Friday night, complete with a red carpet and camera crew — a valiant attempt at bringing a slice of Hollywood to Mt. P. Guests schmoozed with Levelwing employees and social media superstars in the lobby before heading into the theater, where a slideshow of photos taken minutes before in the lobby appeared on the big screen. Parker gave a short presentation on social media and his company in general. We struggled to focus on the PR crash course, but we were impressed to learn that Levelwing was named the fastest growing local company by the Charleston Regional Business Journal. We tried to do our social media duty and tweet about the happs, but that turned out to be a failure — the dark theater was pretty much a dead zone and nothing went through until we stepped outside.
After the movie (go see it, it’s good), they announced the winner of a round-trip flight on a private jet courtesy of North American Jet. The winner? None other than Charleston’s own version of Mark Zuckerberg, TwitPic founder Noah Everett. Isn’t it ironic?
