Thursday night paved the way for my three favorite “Cs”: champagne, Caviar & Bananas catering, and Charleston Fashion Week.
The Holy City’s fashion community stepped into Stems for the premiere of the 2010 Charleston Fashion Week documentary produced by Production Design Associates. Past emerging designers, boutique owners, models, photographers, CFW organizers, and girls wearing the same dress filled the room.
Attendees were treated to a photo exhibit of the past year’s event, featuring works by Tim Hussey, King Street Studios, Ed Kavishe, and Reese Moore. The art was gorgeous, but I am embarrassed to say I was distracted by the frocks and footwear of the party guests; not many a faux pas here.
Usually it's difficult to quiet a Charleston crowd, but the group focused their attention to watch Ayoka Lucas and the CFW 2010 documentary. The film made us proud to be Charlestonians and all that this city has accomplished. CFW alumni include three Project Runway contestants and a widely publicized swimsuit designer, and they've raised over $200,000 for MUSC Children's Hospital, while also bringing attention to southern style and fashion.
It was a fun crowd and, most of all, it made everyone excited for Fashion Week 2011. With CFW expanding their range to the entire East Coast, it should be a week to remember.
