Folly Beach's down-home joint, the Center Street Kitchen finally gives the most prominent corner on the strip the food it deserves. They aren't fancy, nor expensive, but the grub is solid, Southern-fried, and worth a few trips if you're out that way. Think meat and three, crispy fried chicken plates and chicken fried steak, meatloaf and gravy, pickled vegetables like your grandma always had on hand. A single cast iron skillet serves as the symbol of the spot, and you can bet that if you examined it closely enough, there would be a little pimiento cheese stuck in a corner or two. —Jeff Allen,
