Although the digital age has put a new spin on the way most music fans collect their tunes, the glory of mom-and-pop record stores were in full display on Saturday for the national celebration of Record Store Day. Local favorite 52.5 Records marked the day with 52.5 percent discounts on all used merchandise. In addition to the excitement of searching for hidden treasures in the used CD bins, owner Clay Scales displayed artwork from 38 artists for the event. The artists participated in a type of art exchange, with works from across the country making their way to record store in different locales for the festivities. Luckily for those who still love searching out their favorite songs in the physical form, local stores are ready to serve your listening needs. Cats Music, Monster Music, Soundwave Records, and 52.5 Records have a constantly-updating stock of new and used CDs, keeping the record store culture alive and well.
