There’s no better way to explore the benefits of coastal living than tasting fresh local, seafood alongside the very fishermen bringing the goods to the table — for free.
In support of the South Atlantic Fisherman’s Association, the Local Market and Coffee Shop in West Ashley is hosting Fish Stories, an informational and culinary event focused on educating the Lowcountry on our area’s fishing industry and the importance of buying local seafood.
Organizations like Lowcountry Local First, representatives from the South Carolina Aquarium, and SAFA fishermen will be on hand to raise awareness about the current climate of fishing and Charleston’s own seafood options and issues. In order to foster relationships between the areas chefs and fishermen, the event features chef demonstrations and fresh cooked seafood from Billy Pope, formerly of Remedy Market.
The event will feature live music from Vini Youngblood as well as artisan coffee and craft beers in a space decorated with the underwater scenes of local artists. Fish Stories will take place Sun. Feb. 19 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
