BY THE NUMBERS ‌ Breaking the Piggy Bank 

Investment firm Alliance Bernstein recently did a survey regarding parents’ perceptions of saving for college tuition. It determined most are banking on scholarships to assist in the cost, even as 92 percent of financial aid administrators think parents overestimate the amount of scholarship and grant money their children will receive. Some parents encouraged their child to get into sports and others coaxed artistic talent for scholarships; the rest just prayed.
