Two big-name veteran artists from the national hip-hop scene — rappers Busta Rhymes and Big Boi — co-headline Charleston Get Hype on Sunday. The charismatic Busta Rhymes (a.k.a. Trevor Smith) first came to prominence in the early 1990s as a member of Leaders of the New School. He’s earned eight Grammy nominations and scored several chart-topping hits, including his 1999 smash “Woo-Haw! Got You All in Check.” Busta’s latest full-length is titled Back on My B.S. Joining him will be Antwan “Big Boi” Patton, who has worked as André 3000’s partner in the Georgia-based OutKast for years. Big Boi headlined a big show at the U.S.S. Yorktown last fall in support of his recent solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty. His forthcoming studio collection is called Daddy Fat Sax: Soul Funk Crusader, set for release later this year. Local DJ Ben “Ben G” Hiott opens the concert at 8 p.m.
