Bushels, pork, and mystery beer at Ted’s anniversary party

Ted's Excellent Adventure

Ted's Butcherblock, downtown’s much-loved gourmet market, brought all the boys (and gals) to the yard for its sixth anniversary party Saturday afternoon. “We just wanted to show our appreciation to our customers who have supported us all these years,” said owner Ted Dombrowski. “But really, we just love to party, so any excuse to do so is good for me!”

The event attracted long-time shoppers including families, college students, and couples of all ages, as well as tourists and newcomers. The featured menu boasted plates of pork stuffed six ways, apple fennel rosemary slaw, and barbecue macaroni and cheese, giving us a tasty tour of the South. Delectable wine and food samplings also had guests milling throughout the shop: the House Pâté, Kabanosy “Polish” chili, house sausages, and Bertolini ravioli showcased the international diversity of what the shop has to offer. The most creative part of the event was the “Crap or Craft” mystery beer cooler outside, which added a comical touch to the drink menu.

An open door led to the backyard where the Bushels wooed the crowd with their folksy bluegrass jams. Their cover of Old Crow Medicine Show’s “Wagon Wheel” had partygoers tapping their feet and dancing along. Attendees were enticed to stay for a chance to win raffle prizes like a pound of specialty bacon, wine and cheese baskets, and butcher blocks.
