Do kids still read Bunnicula? I have no idea what’s popular in these post-Harry Potter and Twilight days. I didn’t even read Bunnicula, but I did finish Howliday Inn. Or was it The Celery Stalks at Midnight? I can’t really remember. But regardless, Bunnicula is a classic, and it will be great for any kid to see Charleston Stage’s adaptation of the story. The tale is still told from the point of view of the Monroe family’s dog, Harold. The Monroes discover a baby bunny at a movie theater after seeing Dracula, but when they bring it home, Chester (the family cat) thinks something’s a little rascally about this rabbit. Pretty soon, they discover vegetable corpses — all their juice has been sucked out. Though they may be enemies in the animal kingdom, the two band together to solve the mystery behind Bunnicula in this musical. It’s a classic and perfect for October. —Susan Cohen
