With two locations on the peninsula, Bull Street Gourmet churns out a solid menu of casual gourmet fare. The original Harleston Village storefront has a bit more character, while the bright new King Street shop is more expansive. Both locations offer a well-curated selection of beer and wine, with hundreds of bottles for sale as well as a selection of gourmet groceries, from duck fat to local cheeses and produce. You’ll find the same basic menu at both stores, including a handful of breakfast items, like a freshly baked croissant with Nutella and strawberries or a toasted bagel with smoked salmon, red onions, capers, and cream cheese. Lunch and dinner are served from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. There are at least two housemade fresh soups everyday, a packed charcuterie plate, and tons of sandwiches and salads — the tasty Drunken Salad has sliced prosciutto, drunken goat cheese, and toasted pine nuts over mixed greens. They also make the baked goods in-house (try the giant blueberry muffin). —Erica Jackson Curran, Dish (Winter 2013)
