Don’t assume that Theatre 99 is home to just improv. They’ve been hosting plenty of stand-up comedians lately, and Greg Tavares, one-third of the Have Nots!, will exercise his director’s muscle this season with a straightforward production of Brilliant Traces by Cindy Lou Johnson. Tavares describes it as a tension-filled pressure cooker where two strangers are thrown together and forced to reveal their hidden past. Theatre 99 company members Eleanor Hollingsworth and Lee Lewis (Doppelganger, Moral Fixation) will star in this bit of absurdist situational romantic comedy in which a distraught bride bursts into a remote cabin where Henry Harry is fast asleep under a heap of blankets. Hilarity ensues.
