Brewvival 2011 in the works

Tickets currently on sale

Already in its second year, tickets are currently on sale for craft beer festival Charleston Brewvival 2011. Presented by local beer shop Charleston Beer Exchange and microbrewery COAST Brewing Co., the outdoor festival is set for Sat. Feb. 26 from 12-6 p.m. on the grounds across from COAST at 1250 Second St. N., in the Noisette neighborhood in North Charleston. Scott Shor and Rich Carley of CBX and David Merritt and Jaime Tenney of COAST are the main organizers.

"We are still working on many aspects of the event like breweries, beers, music, and food," says an announcement on Brewvival's updated website ( "All of which will be posted as soon as the information becomes available. We do promise that this years event will be even better with the same diverse and rare beers, more food, and ... more port-o-potties. So get your tickets and get ready!"

Brewvival 2011 will feature over 30 microbreweries from around the country. Several brewmasters from the craft brewing world will be on hand to make presentations and sample beers.

Brewvival buys beer for the festival directly from the breweries, seeking out mostly high-gravity ales and lagers, barrel-aged specialties, and rare styles. Advance tickets are currently available for $50 (admission is $60 at the door) online at and in person at the Charleston Beer Exchange (at 14 Exchange St.) or COAST Brewing Co. during normal tour hours. Admission includes samples of all beer. Food vendors and live musical acts will be on hand as well.
