Blues on the Dock

Four creekside Carolina blues and roots music showcases

What is it? Four creekside Carolina blues and roots music showcases.

Why see it? The annual Blues on the Dock series provides a great opportunity to hear the best blues talent in town — plus, the views are absolutely gorgeous. The Lowcountry Blues Sunset and Nights kicks things off with Shrimp City Slim, Smoky Weiner & the Hot Links, Brad Henty & Bradford Station, and Fred Hudson & The Deep Water Soul Society. The Harmonica Romp in the Swamp features harmonica player Juke Joint Johnny (one of Charleston's secret treasures) and the newly-assembled Chuck Morris & The Old School Blues Band. Blues Guitar Smackdown showcases guitarists Frank Carlier, Dr. Kim May, Rev. Johnny Mac, and Robert Paige. Divas of the Blues rolls with soul/blues singers Shelley Magee and Chocolate Thunder on a double bill.

Who should go? Those who love the soulful sounds of authentic Southern blues and roots music, genuine Lowcountry characters, cold beer, warm breezes — and a rustic retreat from the buzzing commotion on the peninsula.
