Biggie's Southern Gastropub is the newest incarnation of Granville's Restaurant, with a scaled-back menu and a new focus on craft cocktails. A slate of $5 starters range from a fontina-laced mac and cheese to a cool butter bean salad, and the housemade potato chips smothered with Eden farms bacon, cheddar, and scallions are perhaps the best bar snack in town. The small list of sandwiches keeps to the basics — BLT, pulled pork, fried catfish, and a house-ground burger — but occasional big plate specials like beef bourguignon provide a few flashbacks to old Granville's favorites. Monday night is meatloaf night, and at only $5, the thick, savory slab is an absolute steal. —Robert Moss, Dish (Winter 2012)
