The Colorado craft brewery's brewmaster Adam Avery personally delivered a few big bottles of their wildest Wild Ale (is that even an official style?) to the Charleston Beer Exchange in October, along with a other more readily available styles. The Avery Voltron (9% a.b.v.) is a small-batch, five-beer blend of old ales, aged in Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel barrels. Sour, woody, acidic, and weird, it contorted more than few beer fans' faces.
