It began in the nightclubs. Places like Torch started painting models who were dressed in little more than thongs. Then artists started embracing the trend, like Phillip Hyman, who hosted a body-painting art show called Dreamscapes at Jimbo's Rock Lounge. The show featured painting by Scott Fray, Madelyn Greco, and Hyman, some on completely nude models. After barely recovering from seeing a local burlesque dancer's labia, we were a little nervous to attend a body painting event at the Gibbes, but were relieved to find that the models kept their naughty bits covered. While this trend never fails to get folks talking, we prefer our painting to be done on non-breathing surfaces.
