Best Way to Earn Enemies

Oppose your party's candidate

That's the lesson that Cyndi Mosteller, former first vice chair of the SCGOP and former chair of the Charleston County Republican Party, and Clemson University political science professor Dave Woodard learned when they came out and voiced their misgivings about then GOP gubernatorial candidate Nikki Haley. Like many of us here at the City Paper realized, Haley was a troubling candidate at best. Do you want us to go through the long list of her problems? Good. Because the list is pretty frikkin' long. Needless to say, Mosteller and Woodard were pretty much shunned by their friends in the SCGOP establishment who desperately wanted to win on Election Day.
