Anyone can walk through the City Market. Hundreds of tourists do so each day. Been there, done that. But if there’s a torrential downpour that coincides perfectly with high tide and the Market — which can flood like the dickens even during a moderate drizzle — you might as well grab that kayak and get out into the street. Sure, there could be a downed power line or some sewage in the water, but how often can you say you kayaked through a historic landmark, like some bozos did last August? If we start preparing now, we can get some races planned out by the time the rainy season rolls around again.
