With it clear that Sen. Jim DeMint wasn't going to get a serious challenge from Democrat Alvin Greene, cookbook author Nathalie Dupree decided to throw her chef's hat into the ring. But she didn't just leave it to us to make the culinary quips. Dupree cooked up a few of her own, promising to "bring home the bacon" and "cook Jim DeMint's goose." It was a commendable effort, but the write-in campaign went the way of most write-in campaigns. Dupree lost, but hopefully her message broke through that the Charleston community is tired of DeMint's foolishness.
