Best Troublemaker

Thomas Ravenel

Readers Pick

What are we going to do with ol’ T-Rav? Between his failed run for the U.S. Senate, his starring role in the “reality” TV show Southern Charm, his numerous run-ins with police, and his occasional threats to buy the City Paper and fire us all, the infamous son of the great South Carolina statesman Arthur Ravenel Jr. continues to reinforce the old joke that the white lines on the Ravenel Bridge are a tribute to his affinity for nose candy. Incumbent Sen. Lindsey Graham refused to debate Ravenel publicly, saying, “It’s not that I’m afraid to debate anybody’s ideas, but I think I have a responsibility, being the sitting senator, not to allow this thing to turn into a circus.” Ravenel strikes us as a well-versed libertarian, but anybody who’s followed the sordid saga of his personal life can attest that the man is not exactly senatorial material.
