If you listen to some folks, the fact that Trader Joe's is opening in Mt. Pleasant is bigger than the Beatles and Jesus combined, and, well, you really can't get much bigger than that. The fact of the matter is everybody needs to lower their expectations a bit. Trader Joe's is a good little grocery store — heck, you can even call it great — but it's not the end-all, be-all. It's got a commendable produce department and a pretty outstanding frozen meal selection — one that features a lot of international fare — while the cheap prices on Trader Joe's brand beer and wine will make imbibers want to toast again and again. That said, Joe's has an extremely limited selection. And it's probably not going to be your go-to place for meat and fish; Trader Joe's excels at pre-packaged goods. But you'll see all of that for yourself when it opens later this year at the old Hungryneck Antique Mall on Highway 17.
