Best Songbird to Fly West

Steven Fiore

Staff Pick

The Charleston music scene lost a lot of talent to Nashville this past year, including Josh Kaler, Jason Brewer, and Rachel Kate, and even comedian Dusty Slay, but one local luminary, acoustic songwriter Steven Fiore, went all the way to the West Coast, landing in Los Angeles. Fiore, who had recently released his long-awaited full-length album Youth and Magic, offered the following explanation for leaving the Holy City: “Songwriters don’t do nearly as well as jam bands.” And jam band he is not. Fiore’s songs are clean, polished, minimal gems, and we sure do miss hearing them around town.
