In August, owner Clay Scales announced that he was closing his independent record store 52.5 Records for good. Scales, who'd been running the business since 1997, and his staff oversaw a season-long farewell through the fall, selling artwork, books, magazines, posters, DVDs, and collectables at cut rates. They cleared the room by the time he left Charleston for New York in November. It was a bittersweet departure.
