Style Swaps

Staff Pick

Wilmington’s style maven Jess James introduced a why-didn’t-I-think-of-that idea to Charleston this year with her well-organized Style Swaps. Working on the idea that we’ve all got some good stuff in our closets that we never wear for one reason or another, the Swaps required all participants to bring one or two stylish pieces. Then all swappers could choose from the haul. Inevitably, the Swaps turned into a bit of a feeding frenzy. And inevitably, some people got stuck with other people’s ugly cast-offs. But that just added to the excitement of the event. Most people walked away with at least something they liked. Now let’s just hope someone local will get the gumption to host another Swap — why wait for someone out of town to make it happen?
