Kate Waring

Staff Pick

A Charleston woman ran some errands, went out for dinner, and was never seen again. Missing persons cases are usually resolved within days, sometimes hours, but the Kate Waring case dragged on for months. Police followed clues to the Upstate, while continuing to press friends who saw her last. The first real break in the case didn’t come until October, when private investigators hired by family friend Andy Savage discovered Waring’s body in a gated Wadmalaw community. Last month, a grand jury indicted Ethan Mack, 29, and Heather Angelica Kamp, 30, on murder charges. Mack had been suspected by family and questioned by the police and media, but authorities say that it was a witness who came forward to implicate the two. A third man, Terry Keith Williams, 31, has been charged with obstruction charges.
