April 19-21, 2013
This annual showcase of all things outdoor-rec-related (formerly known as the East Coast Canoe & Kayak Festival) usually has at least a booth or two with some seriously crazy equipment. This is where we saw foldable kayaks before they were a thing. And since you can try out plenty of what's on display, from canoes to bicycles to archery sets, there's no better place to try your luck at paddleboarding. Though you might lose your pride, it won't cost you a cent (after the $10 "try it" pass, that is).
